Jack loves Charlotte
At the parent/teacher conference, we asked who some of Jack's friends are, and the teacher said Charlotte. I guess they try to sit next to each other whenever they can, and he is very gentle with her. Charlotte and Jack talk to each other on the phone almost every day too. Yesterday, Jack asked if he can marry Charlotte, and I said, "Of course!" You could hear Charlotte and Jack just squeal with excitement. I talked to Charlotte's mom this morning, and we may just arrange a little wedding. I guess Charlotte wears the ring that came in her birthday present that Jack gave her all the time.
Jack's Sense-of-humor
Jack can be very witty. Ryan and I are always surprised at what he has to say. The other day when we were headed to a football game, we forgot the tickets and had to turn around. Once we turned around, Jack said, "That was a great football game." hahaha Since it was halloween, I have halloween hand towels in his bathroom. After he washed his hands, he said, "get ready to get wet, witch." He cracks me up!

San Diego Trip
Just for fun we headed to San Diego to visit our friend Mike. We went to Sea World and then to Miramar to see The Blue Angels. Mike surprised us with VIP tickets into the Patriot tent which gave us special access to the Blue Angels. At Sea World, Jack got the special whale tail necklace at the Shamu show. He was so proud of it. It was a fantastic trip. Jack was funny though, the whole time, he kept saying "I miss Texas," but when we were on the runway coming home, he said "I miss California." hahaha

Second and Third Day of School
Jack's second day of school didn't go so well. He said that he was afraid to go back because of the mean kids who pushed him. On the third day, when I picked him up and asked if he had a better day, he said, "Yes.. Wes and I were the police officers and caught the bad kids and took them to jail." I'm not exactly sure what that means, but he seemed to have worked it out. :)

First Day of School
Today was Jack's first day of school. He had no hesitation whatsoever. In fact, Ryan was hanging around and Jack gave him another kiss and said, "ok daddy goodbye." This year he wears a uniform. On dress days, he is supposed to wear a tie. Jack can't wait to wear a tie so that he can look like Daddy. There were two mini-orientation days last Thursday and Friday and Jack went to visit his new classroom for an hour each day. On Friday, the teacher said Jack was "hilarious" and "very strong." I didn't get a chance to ask what made her say that but I wonder if they were related. :) Jack grew over 2 inches this summer. He wears a size 11 1/2 shoe and a size 6 clothing. He even grew a quarter of an inch in 9 days. I now recognize that when he is very aggressive that a growth spurt usually follows. There was one day where I said, "Jack, don't chase the dogs with the chainsaw," "When Cocoa growls, that means STOP!" "If you run your truck into the wall again, I will throw it away." :)
Witty Jack
Jack doesn't intend on being witty, but he says things that are insightful that come across very funny. When Ryan was wrestling with Jack, Ryan said that he was a monster and going to eat him up. Jack said, "you are going to need a bigger plate." And then the other day, we were driving down the alley and a neighbor down the street had his garage door up. This guy's garage is worthy of being on Oprah as being a pat rack. He even has curtains hanging from the ceiling. Jack asked why his garage was so messy, so I told him that sometimes people have a hard time throwing something away that it piles up and up, and it gets to be so overwhelming they don't know where to start. Then Jack said, "at 1." hahahaha
Lake O The Pines
We rented a lakehouse at Lake O' The Pines and took Dutch and Cocoa with us. It was a great place to stay, and it ended up being the brother and sister-in-law of the presidential candidate Ron Paul. They were wonderful people, and we had a fascinating conversation.

Summer of Swim Lessons
Jack went from not wanting to get "his eyebrows wet" to swimming freestyle, backstroke and breast stroke. He even tries to do his own version of the butterfly while on his back. He says he wants to be an Olympic swimmer just like Michael Phelps. :) And last night while we were watching the Olympics (the reason I've been lax on doing the blog) he said that he wanted to play volleyball and have Mommy and Daddy watch him on TV and yell, "Go, Jack Go." We told him that if he were in the Olympics that we would be in the stands.

4th of July Parade!
This year was the first year that Jack was IN the parade! It was so exciting! Jack was thrilled to see the Donica's at the parade. When he saw Eric, he stopped his Jeep and was going to get out to see him, but since the parade had just started I told him to keep driving so the parade could go. Then later down the route, we saw Drew and Corinne and this time no one was around, so we could stop and take pictures. (Jack had passed the slow people in front of us. :)
Jack had a great time, but it was very hot. The snow cone at the end helped. It was a great 4th of July!

Jack's First Swimming Lesson
Fannie and Silver gave Jack his first swimming lesson. Fannie is the sister of Ryan's SMU swim Coach (Eddie Sinnott) and Silver is Eddie's daughter. (Named Silver Ann since she was born on her grandparents silver anniversary)
Jack has the kick down, but doesn't like to get his eyes wet.
His favorite part was eating the Oreos when it was over.

Daddy's Day
This weekend, Ryan and I celebrated our 11-year wedding anniversary. We spent our anniversary and Daddy's Day out on the boat. No fish were biting but Jack went tubing for the first time! Once we get the film developed, we'll post the pictures.

Fun Thing That Jack Said
When Jack had his outer ear infection, he was very aware of keeping his left ear dry. He was playing on the steps of Mimi's pool and jumped to the bottom step, so I asked if he got his ear wet. He pointed to his right ear and said, "This ear got wet, but it didn't go through" So I was happy to hear that it didn't go through to his left side. :)

Lani!
After my mom had to put her dog, Boomer, to sleep, her other dog, Thunder, stopped eating. So mom got Thunder a dog - Lani! She is 8 months old, and we got her from this great family whose schedule meant they weren't home a lot. Lani and Thunder love to come over and visit. We were also dogsitting for a neighbor, so we had 5 dogs playing in the back yard. Jack loved it. It took a week, but Thunder started eating and soon they will be best friends.
